Since Google's full rollout of Mobile-First Indexing, your rankings are determined by what Googlebot sees on mobile. If your mobile site is slow or missing content, your rankings reflect that.
Mobile-First Checklist
- ✓ Responsive design (not separate mobile subdomain)
- ✓ Same content on mobile and desktop
- ✓ Tap targets at least 48×48 pixels
- ✓ Text readable without zooming (16px minimum)
- ✓ No horizontal scroll on any viewport width
- ✓ Images compressed for mobile bandwidth
Core Web Vitals on Mobile
Mobile scores are usually worse than desktop due to slower CPUs. Target LCP under 2.5 seconds on a simulated 4G connection.
Testing Mobile Performance
Use Google's Mobile-Friendly Test at search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly. Run PageSpeed Insights on mobile mode and prioritize flagged issues.
